Carer Wellbeing & Funded Support

Supporting Nottinghamshire's Unpaid Carers, Before They Reach Crisis

There are over 100,000 unpaid carers in Nottinghamshire. Many are exhausted, isolated, and at risk of breakdown, yet still show up every day for the people they love. Haven Respite exists to support them.

As a social enterprise, we provide flexible, preventative respite and wellbeing support that helps carers sustain their caring roles, reduce stress and isolation, and reclaim some of their own lives, before crisis hits.

The Haven Respite Carer Wellbeing Pathway

A structured pathway, built around real outcomes

Every carer who comes to Haven Respite goes through our structured Carer Wellbeing Pathway, designed to assess need, deliver meaningful support, measure real outcomes, and connect carers to their wider community.

1
Stage 1

Carer Wellbeing and Risk Assessment

Every new service begins with a comprehensive assessment to understand the needs, routines, preferences and any risks relating to the person receiving support. We take time to learn what matters most to your family, ensuring we can provide safe, personalised and effective respite from the very beginning.

2
Stage 2

Personalised Care Plan & Care Professional Assignment

Using the information gathered during assessment, we develop a personalised support plan tailored to your circumstances. We then carefully match you with a suitable care professional or support worker whose skills, experience, and personality are the best fit for your family's needs.

3
Stage 3

Respite Delivery

Our trained, DBS-checked support workers provide flexible respite in your home, following your loved one's established routines and care plan so you can leave with complete confidence. Sessions range from a few hours to overnight arrangements.

4
Stage 4

Outcome Review

We check in regularly to measure what has changed. Has your stress reduced? Have you been able to do the things your break was intended for? Do you feel more able to continue in your caring role? This evidence matters to you and to us.

5
Stage 5

Community Connection

Beyond respite care, we help families access wider sources of support and connection. This may include signposting to local services, introducing carers to peer support opportunities, inviting them to Haven Respite wellbeing activities, and helping them build lasting connections within their community.

What We Provide

Services and activities for carers

Flexible In-Home Respite

Trained support workers provide respite in the carer's home, following established routines and care plans so carers can take a genuine break with complete peace of mind. Available mornings, afternoons, evenings, and overnight.

Carer Wellbeing Circles

Monthly peer support gatherings for carers, in community venues across Nottinghamshire and online. A space to connect, share, and be supported by people who truly understand. Free to attend, no referral needed.

Emotional Wellbeing Support

One-to-one wellbeing check-ins and emotional support for carers experiencing burnout, anxiety, isolation, or stress. Delivered by our trained team with a trauma-informed, person-centred approach.

Information, Advice & Advocacy

We help carers navigate health, care, and welfare systems, understanding their rights, accessing assessments, and finding the support they are entitled to. We speak the system's language so carers don't have to.

Coming Soon - Outreach to Hidden Carers

Many carers don't identify as carers and aren't accessing any support. We actively reach into communities, through faith groups, cultural organisations, SEND networks, and GP social prescribing, to find and support those who need us most.

Coming Soon - Young Carer & Parent Carer Support

Dedicated support for young carers balancing caring with education and development, and for parent carers supporting children with complex needs. Culturally sensitive, flexible, and built around their specific circumstances.
